Have your say on Hertfordshire's future
The East of England Regional Assembly (EERA) is the regional planning body for the East of England and has a statutory duty to prepare and implement the Regional Spatial Strategy known as the East of England Plan.
The East of England covers the counties of Hertfordshire, Essex, Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Norfolk and Suffolk and the unitary authorities of Luton, Peterborough, Thurrock and Southend.
The government intends that responsibility for regional planning will be taken over jointly by the East of England Development Agency (EEDA) and a Local Authority Leaders Board in 2010, with the regional assembly being abolished.
EERA is a partnership body bringing together elected councillors from the region's 54 councils (counties, boroughs, districts and unitaries) and stakeholder representatives from the private, voluntary and community sectors.
The assembly has 105 members, of which two thirds are elected councillors and one third are stakeholder representatives.
